Zoby and Flo

Look what the postman brought?  An envelope from the United Kingdom!  I wonder who it can be from?  It smells really good. I wonder what’s in it?

I guess I had better have a look.  WOW……

A nip toy!!! I wonder who sent me a nip toy….. And look, there’s more….

I can’t quite read who it’s from though.  Never mind, back to business.

Wicket is helping, I think.  I hope he’s not stealing… I am sure it said Dugal on the envelope. We unpacked the rest and look what was in there:

Staff found the magazine – it had an article about pet weddings (very cute), and there was some yummy chocolate for our teenager (can you see his feet in the picture as he waits to swoop), a lovely card, and some nip mouses (still chasing them down) and last, but not least – can you see it, can you see the book from Smokey (@purringsmokey)???? Just in case you can’t, here it is.

And….it’s autographed by Ruth and pawtographed by Smokey.  Smokey holds the world record for the loudest purring cat and Ruth is the co-author (I guess Smokey can’t type) of their book.  Smokey does interviews and television appearances and is a very famous cat.

And getting back to where this treasure came from, there was a lovely card that said it was sent by these two pretty kitties:

Yup, Zoby (@ZobyDoby1) and Flo (@FlobyDoby1) and their wonderful staff. They are awesome twitter pals and their staff had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Smokey and Ruth in purrson.  They are so very kind to get us a book too.

Thankyou so much for the wonderful present. xxxx

Mt Gambier 2012

We have written before about our almost teen (now a teen) and his music.  Well, each year, he and his band mates go to Mt Gambier for Generations in Jazz which is an amazing national schools stagehand competition.

This was the third year that he went to Mt Gambier, he was in a Division 4 band the first year, Division 3 and 4 the next year, and the same again this year (but this was his first year on piano).

As a wamup for this competition, the school has a Gig at the Gov to raise funds for coaching and also to get the boys excited and ready for Mt Gambier. Here are some vids of this years’ performance.

Finally the excitement could be borne no longer and there were two buses full of 5 stage bands and a choir on the road to Mt Gambier.  The parents are glad that they don’t have to put up with the excitement in the car.

On Saturday our teen performed at 8am in Division 4 on the piano. This is them playing littlest one.  The band is very young with most of the musicians in primary school.

Shortly after teen played in trumped in Division 3.2.

The results are announced at the concert on Sunday afternoon.  The division 3 band had been split into two halves for Mt Gambier with teen being in the 3.2 half.  The 3.1 half of the band picked up a third place which was very exciting.  When Bill Broughton was announcing the results for Division 3.2, other schools were placed and the parents thought that the boys had missed out even though they played well. But…. much to everyone’s delight and excitement, they won their division!

Bill Broughton’s comments were very positive and encouraging as you can hear in the adjudicators comments which are recorded as the band is playing (i.e. you can hear the band playing with the adjudicators voice over).

Congratulations to the Band!

Penne

@KillerParrot may be an unlikely friend for a bunch of cats, but Penne is not like any other bird.  Penne is an amazing lasagne eating, Warden (Penne’s mum) biting parrot who sings and meows.

Not only that but Warden is very crafty (see the link to her Etsy  page on my sidebar).  She makes lots of nifty things like owl hats and gloves for people (complete with googly eyes), and toys for cats – which is where we come in.

We ordered some cupcakes from Warden and she made two of them in the colours of Dugal’s footy team (Geelong Cats)

Nip Cupcakes

The cupcakes had to arrive without the beautiful fresh nip that Warden grows and dries herself because they don’t like the customs puppies sniffing nip at work.  Dugal couldn’t wait to get stuck in.

Fresh Nip Cupcakes

He didn’t even wait for them to be filled with nip. When they were filled with nip though, they were irresistible.

Tasting a Nip Cupcake

And as you can see in the video, they are extremely tasty and make cats super relaxed.

Now Warden has expanded her range, she is making fish. Not only can we have desert, but we can also have main course.  We can’t wait for the next course.  We’ll let you know how tasty they are.
